All About Cookies
Typeface Design
This book design project reimagines Christina Tosi's ATosi's Cookies with a refreshed cover that enhances brand alignment, storytelling, and visual engagement. Inspired by Milk Bar's core values of inclusivity, joy, and celebration, I developed a design that fully embraces the idea that everyone deserves to be celebrated—one cookie at a time.

Original design
At its heart, Milk Bar is more than just a bakery; it’s a community-driven brand that actively supports BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals while using desserts as a medium for spreading happiness.

To reflect this ethos, I introduced the "cookie planet" concept, symbolizing the book’s 100+ diverse cookie recipes and reinforcing the universality of celebration. The design integrates a warm, inviting color palette, refining Milk Bar’s signature pink and yellow hues to evoke softness, playfulness, and sweetness.

For a more interactive and dynamic approach, I created a second cover design incorporating actual Milk Bar cookies alongside graphic elements. Initially, I experimented with embedding cookies into the typography, but I later expanded this idea by transforming the entire cover into a textured cookie, complete with chocolate-shaped letters and decorative candies. This playful approach visually captures the indulgent, celebratory essence of Milk Bar.

The final designs feature two distinct versions, each incorporating interactive text elements and confetti-inspired details to amplify the book’s festive tone. A 3D confetti cookie and a stylized price tag reinforce the sense of whimsy and engagement. This redesign transforms the book into a true celebration of cookies, community, and joy through a balance of brand storytelling, interactive elements, and bold yet inviting visuals.
